Uae India Trade Agreement
The United States began negotiating a free trade agreement with the United Arab Emirates in March 2005. In early 2007, the United States and the United Arab Emirates announced that they could not conclude free trade negotiations within the timeframes for the trade promotion authority, but that both sides would continue to work towards the subsequent conclusion of free trade negotiations. There have been no further negotiations for a free trade agreement. Saudi Aramco and abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) have signed a framework agreement for the joint development of the Ratnagiri and Petrochemicals Limited (RRPCL) refinery, a 1.2 million barrels per day of integrated mega-refinery and petrochemical complex. It is a strategic partnership and co-investment in the development of a new mega-refinery and a petrochemical complex worth $44 billion in Ratnagiri. The agreement sets out the principles of joint strategic cooperation between Saudi Aramco and ADNOC to build, own and operate the complex in collaboration with a consortium of Indian national oil companies currently consisting of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCl), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL). Saudi Aramco and ADNOC will jointly own 50% of the new RRPCL joint venture, with the remaining 50% owned by the Indian consortium. The agreement was signed following the 12th meeting of the India-Water Joint Committee, co-chaired by Sushma Swaraj, India`s Foreign Minister, and UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdulla bin Zayed al-Nahyan in Abu Dhabi. A Joint Business Council, consisting of the Federation of Chambers of the Lower States of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), was established. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) signed a strategic agreement with the Abu Dhabi Khalifa Industrial Zone (KIZAD) in Mumbai in October 2011 to help Indian companies invest in the new industrial zone.
